The So Danca TA04 Children’s Vegan Tap Shoes give young dancers the smart look and secure feel of a traditional lace-up Oxford. Comfortable, lightweight and ready for class, they are a dependable choice for children beginning tap or progressing through regular dance-school training.
The smooth black finish works naturally with uniforms and performance costumes, while the adjustable laces help keep the foot securely connected to the shoe. A flexible full sole, soft cushioned lining and ready-attached taps make the TA04 practical for first rhythms, weekly classes and exciting stage moments.
Made for First Tap Rhythms
Learning tap is easier when children can feel stable and hear each step clearly. The TA04’s full sole and low heel create a reassuring base for practising balance, weight placement and early toe-and-heel movements, without making the shoe feel unnecessarily heavy.
The smooth vegan synthetic upper is soft, durable and easy to care for. Riveted toe and heel taps provide a clear, consistent response as children learn their first taps, shuffles and rhythmic combinations.
The classic Black Oxford shape is a popular choice for dance-school uniforms, examinations and performances. Always check your dance school’s required shoe colour and style before ordering.
Guide
Why Choose an Oxford Tap Shoe?
An Oxford tap shoe covers the whole foot and uses laces to adjust the fit across the instep. This traditional shape can feel more structured and secure than an open-instep or single-strap tap shoe.
The TA04 is particularly helpful for children who benefit from a closely adjustable fit. When the laces are fastened correctly, the shoe stays connected to the foot as the dancer walks, taps and changes direction.
Oxford shoes do require children or parents to tie the laces securely before class. For very young dancers who are not yet comfortable with laces, a buckle or Velcro tap shoe may be easier to manage independently.
Guide
How Should Children’s Tap Shoes Fit?
Tap shoes should feel close and secure without squeezing. Your child’s toes should lie naturally and flat inside the shoe, while the back should hold the heel securely when walking and tapping.
Always measure your child’s feet rather than using their current school-shoe or trainer size. Everyday footwear often already contains growing room, making it an unreliable guide for fitted dance shoes.
For the TA04, begin with the child’s measured size and compare it with the current So Danca size guide. Choose a secure fit with only a small amount of sensible growing room.
The regular width has a neat fit and may feel narrow on broader feet. Avoid adding excessive length simply to create more width, as an oversized tap shoe can reduce control and sound clarity.
Quick fit check: Ask your child to walk, rise onto the toes and make a few gentle toe-and-heel movements. The toes should remain flat and the heel should not noticeably lift or slide.
Dance World Size Guide is intended as a helpful starting point. Every child’s feet are unique, so fit may vary depending on foot shape, width, growth and personal preference. Test tap shoes on clean carpet only, as scratched or floor-worn tap plates cannot be accepted for return.
Choosing your child’s first tap shoes doesn’t need to be complicated. If you are unsure about sizing, width or whether laces are the right fastening for your dancer, our Dance World team is always happy to help before you order.
