The So Danca TA06 Children’s Vegan Tap Shoes bring a sweet, traditional Mary Jane look to first tap classes. Comfortable, lightweight and securely fastened with an adjustable buckle strap, they help young dancers feel properly dressed and ready to discover their first rhythms.
Available in Black and Tan, the TA06 is a lovely choice for beginners, dance-school uniforms, musical theatre and early performances. The flexible construction keeps movement feeling manageable, while riveted aluminium taps at both the toe and heel provide a clear sound across every size.
Made for Growing Tap Dancers
Young dancers need a tap shoe that feels secure without being unnecessarily heavy or rigid. The TA06 combines a soft vegan synthetic upper with a flexible full sole, allowing children to move comfortably while still providing the steady base needed for early toe-and-heel control.
The slim buckle strap can be adjusted across the instep to help hold the shoe in place, while the cushioned interior softens the feel of regular classes and repeated practice. Riveted aluminium toe and heel taps arrive securely attached, allowing children to hear their steps clearly as they learn taps, shuffles and simple rhythmic combinations.
Black is the traditional choice for many dance-school uniforms, while Tan creates a softer leg line for musical theatre, examinations and stage costumes. Always check your dance school’s required shoe colour and style before ordering.
Guide
Why Choose Mary Jane Tap Shoes?
Mary Jane tap shoes combine a secure instep strap with a classic open-front shape. The strap helps keep the foot connected to the shoe, while the buckle allows parents to adjust the fit as needed.
The TA06 is a lovely option when a dance school prefers a more traditional appearance than a Velcro shoe. Its slim strap looks neat with uniforms and costumes, making the style equally useful for weekly classes and early stage performances.
Younger children may initially need help with the buckle, but once adjusted it should sit comfortably across the instep without pressing into the foot. Check that it is fastened securely before every class.
Guide
How Should Children’s Tap Shoes Fit?
Children’s tap shoes should feel close and secure without squeezing. The toes should lie naturally and flat inside the shoe, while the back should hold the heel securely when your child walks and taps.
Always measure your child’s feet rather than relying on their current school-shoe or trainer size. Everyday footwear often already contains growing room, making it an unreliable guide for fitted dance shoes.
The TA06 generally fits true to size. Begin with the measured foot size and compare it with the current So Danca size guide. If your child is between sizes, has a wider foot or will wear socks for class, approximately half a size up may provide a more comfortable starting point.
A small amount of sensible growing room is acceptable, but avoid buying the shoe noticeably loose. Too much movement inside a tap shoe makes it harder for children to balance, control the taps and produce a clean sound.
Quick fit check: Fasten the buckle, then ask your child to walk, rise onto the toes and make a few gentle toe-and-heel movements. The toes should remain flat, the strap should stay comfortable and the heel should not noticeably lift or slide.
Dance World Size Guide is intended as a helpful starting point. Every child’s feet are unique, so fit may vary depending on foot shape, width, growth and personal preference. Test tap shoes on clean carpet only, as scratched or floor-worn tap plates cannot be accepted for return.
Choosing your child’s first tap shoes doesn’t need to be complicated. If you are unsure about sizing, colour or whether a buckle fastening is right for your young dancer, our Dance World team is always happy to help before you order.
