The So Danca TA32 Children’s Front-Tie Tap Shoes give young dancers a secure, supportive start without the heavier appearance of a closed Oxford shoe. Their distinctive open instep and neat two-eyelet tie create a lighter dance-school look, while the full sole provides a steady base for learning rhythm and control.
Finished in classic Black, the TA32 works beautifully for weekly classes, dance-school uniforms, examinations and early performances. The genuine leather sole creates a smoother floor feel and clear tap response, making this a lovely choice for beginners who want a shoe they can continue wearing as their technique develops.
Made for Developing Tap Dancers
When children are learning tap, their shoes need to stay securely connected to the feet so every movement reaches the floor clearly. The TA32 uses a short front tie to adjust the fit across the upper foot, while the open instep keeps the overall shape neat and lightweight.
A cushioned interior helps soften the feel of weekly classes, while the genuine leather full sole provides useful structure beneath growing feet. Leather also moves more smoothly across a suitable studio floor than rubber, helping developing dancers explore weight changes, toe-and-heel control and increasingly confident rhythms.
Aluminium taps are securely attached at both the toe and heel across every size, allowing the shoes to arrive ready for class. The classic Black finish works naturally with most tap uniforms and performance costumes. Always check your dance school’s required shoe colour and style before ordering.
Guide
Why Choose a Front-Tie Tap Shoe?
The TA32 has a short two-eyelet tie rather than the longer lacing of a closed Oxford shoe. This allows the shoe to be adjusted across the upper foot while leaving the centre of the instep open for a lighter, more delicate appearance.
The front tie can provide a closer hold than a simple slip-on shoe, helping the foot and taps move together as children learn rhythm and timing. This connection is important because too much movement inside the shoe can make tap sounds feel delayed or less precise.
Younger children may need help tying the laces securely before class. Use a firm double knot and keep the loops short enough that they cannot fall beneath the shoe while dancing.

How Should Children’s TA32 Tap Shoes Fit?
Children’s tap shoes should feel close and secure without squeezing. The toes should lie naturally and flat inside the shoe, while the heel should remain securely in place when your child walks and taps.
Always measure your child’s feet rather than relying on their current school-shoe or trainer size. Everyday footwear often already contains growing room and may not provide an accurate starting point for fitted dance shoes.
The TA32 has a relatively shallow fit and is generally best suited to slimmer or lower-volume feet. Begin with the measured foot size and compare it with the current So Danca size guide.
A small amount of sensible growing room is acceptable, but avoid a noticeably loose fit. The two-eyelet front tie provides some adjustment, although it cannot accommodate a high instep as easily as a fully enclosed lace-up shoe.
Quick fit check: Tie the laces securely, then ask your child to walk, rise onto the toes and make a few gentle toe-and-heel movements. The toes should remain flat, the sides should stay connected to the foot and the heel should not noticeably lift or slide.
Dance World Size Guide is intended as a helpful starting point. Every child’s feet are unique, so fit may vary depending on foot shape, width, growth and personal preference. Test tap shoes on clean carpet only, as scratched or floor-worn tap plates cannot be accepted for return.
Choosing tap shoes for a developing dancer doesn’t need to be complicated. If you are unsure about sizing or whether the shallow front-tie shape is suitable for your child’s feet, our Dance World team is always happy to help before you order.
